Sometimes you don’t realise there is another option…

Through Nutritional Therapy I have been able to make sense of my own health, and have been able to heal health issues concerning blood sugar dysfunction, food sensitivities, fatigue and slowly but surely menstruation issues.

I had a relatively healthy upbringing due to a mother raised on a farm, however it wasn’t too long into my childhood where the foods of convenience crept in. After suffering food sensitivities and debilitating monthly cycles, to say the least were just ghastly. I eventually succumbed to that small contraceptive pill, not thinking much of it. I was relieved.

Working in a fast pace corporate lifestyle for 15 years also came with its own health challenges. I tried to manage this from the get-go, keeping as much movement in my life as possible. Being active was very much a part of who I was, since childhood.

Fast forward nearly two decades years later, I started to question, why if I miss only one of these pills would the pain resurface itself! Taking time off work each month, was not an option! I knew something was amiss, however put these questions aside, as had no clue how to deal with this mystery

By complete coincidence my paths crossed with an acupuncturist, who subtly helped me realise that there should be no such thing as pain.  Step-by-step, I was able to ease off the “pill” and after completing my study in Functional Nutritional Therapy, I was able to recover. I understood what nutrients my body was in desperate need of.

I believe nutrition is not only about what you eat, but the how, and also looking at other areas of your life to bring the body steadily back into balance. One person’s way of eating and physical needs can “seriously” harm another person’s biochemical composition. After what has seemed a long journey to empower my own health, I am passionate to help others find their own balance through functional nutritional therapy, this is my mission.

My philosophy is that optimal health is based on working with the innate wisdom of the body to restore function, and bring the body back into it’s natural balance.

Working towards the ability to be able to tune into the body, and listen to the messages it so desperately wants us to hear. The body is designed to work toward repair and growth, however we can get in our own way by eating the wrong foods that do not match our bio-individual needs, or we lack a specific nutrient that can hinder functions of the body.

Movement and other key components (career, relationships and spirituality) of one’s life are of equal importance.  Yoga has been an integral part of my life which I am grateful for since 2001.  Starting from early childhood, I was involved in a wide variety of physically demanding sports, dance and cultural events.  I am a certified Yoga Teacher where I received my training at the Absolute Yoga Academy in Amsterdam. Yoga complements and maintains the body, helps lengthen the muscles, and is also a great tool to rest the body.
